The Benefits of Reading Aloud
to Your Children : Just what's so important about reading aloud? Why do
pediatricians now prescribe it to many parents?
When
You Read Aloud, Ham it Up! There's more to reading aloud than just
reading words on pages. Many second graders can do that. When an adult reads to
a child, there is so much more that can be done to enhance the experience for
everyone. Here's how.
Back to
School Teaching Resources: As teachers prepare to go back to school,
they should check out the wide variety lesson plan and record books, as well as

Reading Aloud to All
Ages: Many people believe that once a child can read books for himself,
there's no more need to read to him. Yet, there are many benefits when families
continue to read as children grow older and families even make reading aloud a
family activity. Find how continuing to read to older children can help them
academically and how reading as a family can build strong family bonds.
How to
Choose Books For Young Children : Giving a child a book shows that books
are to be valued and that reading is important. But for that to happen, the
child must love the book. Your job as a
book buyer for children is to choose a book that will delight the child in your
life

RTI:
How Will It Affect Me, My School and My Child:
What is RTI? It stands for
Response to Intervention. I will be
showing you some videos where administrators and teachers try to explain it. You
will see what's happening in both elementary and high schools that have adopted
it, and you will hear what it will mean for both teachers and administrators.
RTI is basically a tiered system of intervening in student academic and behavior
problems before they become bigger, giving students the extra help they need
based on data produced by more frequent assessments by
the general classroom teachers. Simple?
Only in theory. But all good theories take a lot of behind the scenes work for
districts, school administrators, and teachers.
