Things to See and Do in North San Luis Obispo County: There are so many
attractions in the North County that no one article could list them all. It
would take at least a book. These are some that mean the most to me. Walk with
me around the Lake Park in Atascadero. See the new Veteran's Memorial on the
Purple Heart Trail. See the Salinas River flowing and see some of the North
County wineries. One could really spend a whole vacation here. The picture here
is of the Salinas River as seen at Larry Moore Park in Paso Robles.
Day in the
Shade in Templeton: This art and wine tasting event in the Templeton
City Park happens every year on the Saturday before Mother's Day
Templeton,
Calfiornia : This is the first bit of writing I did about Templeton, and
it covers some of my favorite things: Farmer's Market on Saturday, and my
neighborhood of West Templeton. It also shows the neglected Sycamore Herb Farm
in the period after it was closed by Lone Madrone and before it became Fat Cat
Farm. You will see lots of pictures.
Templeton's Downtown Historical District: Tourists can drop by the
Templeton Historical Museum to get a map with a walking tour of Main Street's
historic buildings, as well as it's historic residences and churches. So can
locals. It's amazing how we can live here for years and miss seeing what others
travel long distances to see. Take the tour with me. This picture is of the
Bethel Lutheran Church.
Buying
Fresh Food at Farmer's Market: Come meet my favorite vendors and watch them
in action as I take my video camera to Farmer's Market in Templeton.
Farmers Market is More than Fresh Produce: We all expect to find fresh
fruits and vegetables at Farmers Market. But did you know you can also buy dog
treats, goat cheese, pottery, fresh flowers and succulent arrangements? You can
also buy warm hats and scarves, jewelry, honey, and more.
More non-produce farmers market vendors are introduced in this section of an
article on buying Valentine gifts locally.
Beauty Surrounds
Me: A Short Tour of West Templeton: As you might have noticed by now, I
enjoy taking pictures as I roam around the North County. I hope you will join me
on my winter walk around my West Templeton neighborhood in the vicinity of
Highway 46 West, Oakdale Rd. and Vineyard Drive on a very cloudy day between
rain storms.
Oak View
Lane Walk in West Templeton: This walk begins right next to the Donati
Family Vineyard, goes to Vineyard Drive, and then you need to walk back. The
walk back has entirely different views because the perspective is different on
the way back. The round trip walk is two miles, and fairly fit people can do it
in an hour.
