WEEDS WHICH GROW IN TEMPLETON, CALIFORNIA
Weeds are abundant in
Templeton as you might expect. Although I fight them in my gardens, I also use
them in various ways. Some are edible, and I eat them. I have used some as
living mulch to keep to keep more antagonistic weeds down. When I pull them
before they have reseeded, I compost them. And pulling them gives me a lot of
exercise and fresh air. This page will serve as an introduction to some that I
have on my property and might help others identify and use them. I will also
share some of the ways I control them. This picture shows a path I made to get
out to my garden area in 2006 after a couple of years of neglect. (Both our
mothers had died, one in 2004 and one in 2005, and we were both heavily involved
in their care.) What you see along the path is mostly mustard and milk thistle.
Here are the links to information on some of my most prolific
weeds and what I do with them.
